The 33rd annual Lake State Classic Golf Tournament and auction, in support of Laker Superior State University and Laker Athletics, will be held Aug. 5 at Wild Bluff Golf Course in Brimley, MI.
The event is for everyone, regardless of golf skills. The goal this year is to build on the success we had in our return to in-person outings last summer. “We are thrilled to be returning to Wild Bluff once again for another great event and supporting our students and student-athletes,” said Andrew Rubinstein, annual fund and athletic development director.
Registration will begin at 8 AM with breakfast boxes provided for each golfer in their cart. The four-person scramble will commence with a shotgun start at 9 AM. There will be multiple special events and lunch will be available for all golfers at the turn.
The auction opens for bidding on July 25 and will close the evening of Aug. 5. Past auction items have included a stay-and-play opportunity at Bay Mills Resort and Casino, Laker and Red Wings items, a golf fan package courtesy of the Green Bay Packers, and LSSU club hockey items.
The cost is $160 per person or $640 per team of four.
To register online, go to https://foundation.lssu.edu/lake-state-classic-2022/, e-mail foundation@lssu.edu , or call Rubinstein at (906) 635-6219. Hole sponsorships begin at $150.
“The Lake State Classic is one of the signature events of our year. It’s great to see the tremendous support from our campus, community, alumni, and friends. In addition, the resources generated are absolutely critical in providing our coaches with resources to enhance the programs and the student-athlete experience,” said Athletic Director Dave Diles.
“The Lake State Classic Golf Tournament is a perennial favorite of our Laker faithful,” said LSSU President Dr. Rodney S. Hanley. “It’s a wonderful way to have a good time on a beautiful course and to give back to our great institution.”
