CFRE PROJECT RECEIVES MAJOR BOOST – Lake Superior State University’s Center for Freshwater Research and Education (CFRE) garnered additional positive momentum heading into the New Year as the Board of Directors of Central Savings Bank unanimously approved a $100,000 donation in support of the project. The State of Michigan approved a capital outlay grant of $9 million towards the $12 million project on July 1, 2016, leaving $3 million to be raised by the LSSU Foundation. The Central Savings Bank gift moves the total funds raised so far to just under $2 million, setting the stage for the remainder to be raised in 2018. “Central Savings Bank is proud to make this donation to the University,” said CSB President and CEO Ron Meister. “LSSU is an integral part of our towns and our children’s’ future.” Pictured left to right are CSB Board Chair Paul Brewster, CSB Executive Vice President Mark Savoie, LSSU President Peter Mitchell, Ron Meister, CSB Senior Vice President Cathy Mason, and LSSU Foundation Executive Director Tom Coates.
