The 29th annual Lake State Classic Golf Tournament and Auction is slated for June 28-29 at Treetops Resort in Gaylord, Mich. The golf tournament, in conjunction with an online auction, helps to support academic and athletic programs at Lake Superior State University.
The tournament is open to all golfers, regardless of skill level. The event is a great way for Laker alumni and friends of LSSU to get together for friendly competition and help support LSSU students and athletes.
The Lake State Classic kicks off with an online pre-bidding auction open to the public. Items are available for pre-bidding from now until 11:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 27. Items up for auction include: four VIP tickets to a Detroit Pistons game, two tickets to a Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Toronto or Detroit game, a Doug Weight Lakers jersey, an autographed Dylan Larkin Red Wings hockey stick and jersey, a signed Stanley Johnson Detroit Pistons jersey, a Tiffany & Co. necklace, vacation packages, and much more.
Top bids from the online pre-bidding will be carried over to the live, silent auction on Thursday, June 28 at the ‘Classic Bash’ social in the Oak Room at Treetops Resort from 7:30 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. In addition to the silent auction, guests will have an opportunity to meet LSSU President Rodney Hanley and LSSU Athletics Director David Paitson.
“We hope that friends and alumni of Lake State feel welcomed to come and meet Dr. Hanley on Thursday night,” said Esther Proulx, development coordinator for the LSSU Foundation. “It’s been great for me to work on this event for the first time and interact with some of our loyal donors. There is still time for golfers to register for the Classic.”
The four-person scramble begins at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 29 on the “Fazio Premier” course. There will be a series of special events on the course throughout the day. The Classic Grillin’ & Chillin’ BBQ will wrap up the day’s events.
The cost is $160 per person or $640 per team of four. Registration is still available online, via email, or by calling 906-635-2665.
