Lake Superior State University will offer a basic manufacturing continuing education (non-credit) course for adults during the spring 2023 semester.

The course provides an introduction to fundamentals used in the manufacturing field, such as safety, tools, measurement, metals, cutting, speed and feed, manual mills and lathes, interpreting diagrams, and CNC (computer numerical control) equipment. The course will run Jan. 25-May 3, 2023, on Wednesdays at 5:30 PM-8:30 PM in The Center for Applied Science and Engineering Technology.

“This newest opportunity of continuing education broadens Lake State’s mission statement to furnish students of all types with the knowledge and skills required for meaningful employment as well as extends the pillars of student learning and community partnership from Lake State’s strategic plan to adult cohorts,” said LSSU President Dr. Rodney S. Hanley. “We remain committed to identifying potential, driving social mobility, and developing all our students, both traditional and nontraditional.”

The basic manufacturing continuing education course is underwritten through a grant from the Upper Peninsula Michigan Works!’s Michigan Learning & Education Advancement Program (MiLEAP) through the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity’s Office of Employment and Training.
