The Arts Center at Lake Superior State University presents Country Royalty. Country Royalty performs the hits you remember from the golden days of country music and takes the stage at the Arts Center April 8th at 7:00 p.m.
Arts Center Director, Spencer Christensen, says, “This should be a real crowd pleaser! It’s great music and we have lots of folks in the area that love country – so we’re very excited! We will have two of the biggest legends of country music on the Arts Center stage at the same time…Hank Williams and Patsy Cline and seven piece band will perform the top-of-the-charts hits!”
“Hank Williams: “Lost Highway” star and 2003 Obie Award winner Jason Petty re-creates the role he has become famous for, while Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame member, Katie Deal, gives a jaw-dropping performance as Patsy Cline. Petty and Deal pay tribute to the two most influential singers in country music history.
The New York Times wrote “Jason Petty does a remarkably good job of rendering Williams’ famous melodies with the silky warble and sob that recreate their touching simplicity” paired with “Deal shines when she sings” from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel makes for an exciting show!
The production was made possible with the generous support from the MICHIGAN COUNCIL FOR ARTS AND CULTURAL AFFAIRS, Fund for LSSU, and the Duncan MacLaren Family Fund for the Performing Arts.
Country Royalty will be on the Arts Center Stage at 7:00 p.m. April 8th. Free parking is available in Lot K, in front of the Arts Center, and Lot E, behind the Cisler Center.
