SHAOXING FAREWELL –Medical students and faculty from Shaoxing University, Lake Superior State University’s partner university in China, have finished a four-week summer program in Sault Ste. Marie that offered glimpses into American health services and culture. The 2018 contingent poses with host families during an Aug. 10 farewell dinner emceed by LSSU Provost Lynn Gillette (center, standing). “The students from Shaoxing University had an extraordinary educational and cultural experience at LSSU,” said Gillette. “Dr. Guidi Yang, associate professor of Education, provided excellent leadership in developing and offering the program. At LSSU, we encourage international students to study here as it provides them with a high quality educational experience while also adding to the international culture on campus.” Shaoxing University, located 100 miles south of Shanghai on China’s east coast, is a four-year university with 23,000 full-time students enrolled in the arts, natural sciences, engineering, medical science, law, education, economics, and management. This is Shaoxing University’s fifth summer visit. Upcoming exchanges promise to involve more students and faculty from both universities in different academic disciplines. (LSSU/Heather Gregg)
