OUT WITH WINTER – Tom O’Hare, chief meteorologist at 9&10 News, symbolically bids adieu to winter on March 20 by lighting a 12-foot effigy at Lake Superior State University’s 49th annual snowman burning to welcome spring. Looking on from beyond the cameraman is LSSU President Rodney Hanley, who was emceeing his inaugural burn. The tradition, an LSSU staple since 1971, featured the students reading poetry, receiving free daffodils, and feasting on sub sandwiches. Click here to read more about the tradition.
