KEEP THE SALMON COMING – Lake Superior State University Center for Freshwater Research Director Ashley Moerke and Hatchery Manager Roger Greil prepare a raceway of Atlantic salmon fingerlings for release into the St. Marys River. Greil has received the Pistis Award from the Michigan Charter Boat Association (MCBA) in recognition for more than 40 years of work on Michigan’s sport fishery. MCBA also donated $1,000 to LSSU to start a scholarship in the association’s name that will benefit a student of at least junior status studying fisheries & wildlife management at Lake State, with a focus on fisheries. The MCBA Pistis Award honors people and organizations outside the charter boat industry for contributions to the improvement and well-being of the Michigan Charter Boat Association, the charter industry, and sport fishing in general.
