LSSU Mourns Loss of Student

On October 13, 2019, Lake Superior State University lost a member of our family in a tragic car accident due to hazardous conditions on I-75. Parker Dagenais, a junior Kinesiology student, concentrating in Sports and Fitness Management, from Fenton, MI passed away at the scene. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, October 18, 2019 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, in Fenton, MI.

“Our hearts go out to the members of Parker’s family and friends,” said LSSU President, Dr. Rodney Hanley. “As our campus community mourns this great loss, I ask all who knew him to remember your time and experiences with him, and rely on each other for support in this moment of grief.”

Parker was a Student Assistant Coach for Women’s Basketball, and well-known around campus for his contagious energy and deep friendships. The LSSU community extends our heartfelt sympathies to the friends and family members of Parker during this very difficult time. 

“Parker was a true blessing to our program and my life. He brought a joyful heart with him everyday and his positive attitude was contagious,” said Women’s Basketball Head Coach, Brandon Lokken. “Parker loved our basketball program and we all loved him. We were so grateful to have him as a student assistant coach. We will miss him dearly.”

At the behest of Parker’s parents, Paul and Susan Dagenais, Lake Superior State University Laker Club, will be accepting contributions in Parker’s name to help high achieving students like him inside and outside of the classroom.
