2018 Snowman Pre-Burn

CALM BEFORE BURN – Student worker Jasper Godeke (on ladder) and Jerry Killips, both with Lake Superior State University’s physical plant department, eye a 12-foot snowman effigy that will burn at noon, March 20, in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. LSSU has been welcoming the first day of spring in this fashion since 1971. Godeke, a parks and recreation management junior from Antwerp, Ohio, was lead worker on the effort, along with the skills of students Bryant Eddy, Brennan Bunker, and Blake Barber. LSSU staff mechanic Ron Throener also had a hand in construction. Tomorrow’s ceremony will be on the north side of LSSU’s Walker Cisler Center. (LSSU/John Shibley)
