Sault High Class Of '72 Donates 2017 Dollars For Scholarship

THE SPIRIT OF SEVENTY-TWO – The Sault High School (Mich.) Class of 1972 donates $2,000 to a scholarship fund that benefits Sault High graduates attending Lake Superior State University. The group made the gift during a July 29 class reunion at Sault Ste. Marie’s Sherman Park. “We appreciate the local schools and the city where we grew up,” said Mimi Wirtanen, reunion committee chair, holding the check on left. “This was a wonderful opportunity to give back to the community.” The Class of ’72 responded to an appeal that LSSU’s Foundation makes each year to Sault/Loretto High alumni for a scholarship in their name. Contributions of $250 or more entitles donors to designate a name to be placed on the Sault/Loretto High School Scholarship Wall of Honor plaque in the LSSU Walker Cisler Student and Conference Center. Contributions of $5,000 or more creates an annual perpetual scholarship. Up to ten perpetual scholarships are awarded to deserving Sault High graduates each year.
